Harness Electrical Engineer

Description:
Leading the development and documentation of component and subsystem requirements for the electrical harness system. Designing electrical wiring harness BOM to include component selection for connectors, backshells, sleeving, cables, braiding, sealants, boots, transitions, etc.
Developing harness components to meet key performance and timing targets by working collaboratively with Product Engineering, EMC, Systems Engineering, Packaging Analysis, Design Services, Planning, and Program teams.
Determining harness layout through vehicle and branch points for multi-branch harnesses
Designing to environmental requirements for temperature, shock, vibration, submergence and exposure to harsh chemicals
Creating and designing drawings for harnesses in Capital Harness System (CHS) (aka Mentor Graphics) software, working specifically in Harness XC, Capital Logic and Capital Topology
Working with designers and physical architects to route harnesses (moved to primary task, removed and changed some text here to try to reduce number of CAD designers applying)
Coordinating the harness design execution to support multiple products. This includes harness schematic maturity, harness routings, harness drawings, harness installations, harness interconnects, and harness electrical wiring diagrams.
Tracking of harness design progress and presenting to key stakeholders.
Ensuring the harness design and interfaces are defined and designed in adherence to engineering standard work for the purpose of on-time high quality delivery.
Leading and supporting continuous process improvement, best practices, lessons learned, and quality improvement initiatives.
Providing technical leadership ensuring issue resolution and appropriate technical direction for artifacts of responsibility.
Training, coaching, mentoring other team members in areas of strong competency.
Working with systems engineers to define whole vehicle pin-level interconnect.
Additional Tasks:
Verifying circuit breaker setting, contact size, and connections to meet power requirements
Working with digital systems to process changes, redline drawings, identify root causes, and develop preventative measures
Supporting build of vehicles for wiring support
Supporting build of prototype and production builds of harnesses
Working with systems engineers to define whole vehicle pin-level interconnect

Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Ability to balance cost/schedule/technical priorities.
Occasional overtime and weekend hours may be required to complete critical tasks.
Experience with Microsoft Visio desirable.
Experience with Capital Harness System (CHS) (aka Mentor Graphics) software, specifically in Harness XC, Capital Logic and Capital Topology is desirable.
Basic proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to use Engineering Development and Test Tools.
Must be able to obtain a security clearance if necessary.
